Velvet paintings are an ancient art form which was traditionally associated with religious iconography. Images are painted onto velvet fabric - usually dark velvet - and the unusual texture and composition of the fabric lends paintings an extra dimension of texture, contrast, and vibrancy.

Its aims are to explore and promote Los Angeles artists.
