Perform Free Concert in Chinatown
What: On the heels of his hugely successful concert at Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Stadium last month, actor Jackie Chan will reunite friends and pop singers from China in a free performance in Los Angeles Chinatown. The concert will be performed in Mandarin and English and will feature his inspirational popular song “My Beloved Country.” Members of the New Lucky Seven from the Chinese TV show “Descendants of the Dragon” will also perform their hit “Master.” Martial arts performances by both the New Lucky Seven and the Shaolin Warriors of Chinatown will be a part of the evening.
Who: Jackie Chan, the star of the action thriller “Rush Hour” will headline the concert. Also featured will be Xu Dong Mei, Xu Nin, Jack Tu, Jerry Liao, Yang Zheng, and Ji Tao of the New Lucky Seven, Korean singer Yoo Suengjun, and America’s Sharon Jiao.
Why: “My Beloved Country” won nationwide acclaim in China and Chan wants to share its inspiring message with the largest Chinese-American community in the United States—right here in Southern California. He is taking time out from rehearsing for the remake of “Karate Kid” to pay a visit to L.A.’s Chinatown, where his very first U.S. feature film, “Rush Hour,” was shot.
