“Cool Chinese Summer Dishes” Cooking Class

Sunday, June 8, 2008
10:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Program for Kids and Adults

Learn to make many summertime favorites such as a Cold Peanut Noodle Salad, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Szechuan-style Eggplant, Egg and Tofu Fried Rice, and Baby Bok Choy with Black Mushrooms. These dishes are easy to make and great to serve on a hot summer day. Hands-on instruction is led by Jet Tila, chef and Asian culinary expert.

Children can enjoy a concurrent kid’s cooking class where they’ll learn to make fresh spring rolls and sweet rice packages just in time for the Dragon Boat Festival! If time permits, they’ll also learn how to make a kite and will see some 70-year-old kites on display in Chinatown’s historic Central Plaza. (Central Plaza is celebrating its 70 Anniversary this June 28.)

Adults pay $65 and children pay $15 but must be accompanied by a paying adult. Take home materials and lunch are included. To make a reservation, call 213-680-0243 or email info@chinatownla.com. A credit card or check will be required to reserve a space.
