Chinese New Year Cooking Class Offered in Chinatown

$65 includes take home materials and lunch

Children’s program cost is $15 and includes lunch. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Kick off the “Year of the Rat” with a lavish feast of traditional and symbolic favorites: Steamed Rockfish with Ginger and Scallions, Red-Cooked Pork, Eight-Treasure Rice Pudding, and Long Life Noodles. Learn the significance of various New Year’s dishes and gain insight into this most important Chinese holiday.

The course is taught by Jet Tila, chef and Asian culinary expert, and will be held in Chinatown’s Grand Star Jazz Club (943 N. Broadway, L.A. 90012).

Children are also welcome to enjoy a concurrent kid’s cooking class (teaching how to make dumplings and long-life noodles), and they’ll partake in lantern-making and a brief Chinatown walking tour led by Holly Barnhill. Kids pay $15 which includes lunch.
