(Los Angeles) – During the holiday season, Los Angeles begins to twinkle a bit brighter and the magic of the season resonates throughout the city—this is especially true of Chinatown, Los Angeles’ most unique district.
The historical district gears up for the holiday season with a Shopper’s Pass Program, which begins November 22, 2010, offering shoppers discounts up to 50% off goods and services at select Chinatown merchants. The Shopper’s Pass offers cardholders discounts at unique retailers such as Chemline and The Jade Tree and award winning restaurants such as Master Chef and Mandarin Chateau and so much more! The Shopper’s Pass can be downloaded from Los Angeles Chinatown’s website and also picked up at participating merchants. The pass is good through Feb. 28, 2011. A full list of merchants and discounts can be found on the website or on Los Angeles’ Facebook page.
As an added value for shoppers, free gift-wrapping service will be offered during the weekend of Dec. 4 & 5, Dec. 11 & 12 and Dec 18 & 19 at Central Plaza in Chinatown, 942 N. Broadway, Los Angeles, 90012. Times for gift wrapping services are from 11am-4pm.
The holiday celebration in Chinatown will begin on Dec. 2 as Chinatown hosts it first Christmas tree lighting celebration. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. as carolers sing classic and modern Christmas carols against the magical neon backdrop of Chinatown’s Central Plaza. There will also be special performances by Chinatown-based groups leading up to the event of the evening—a spectacular tree lighting in the center of Central Plaza. The Noble Fir will be decorated by renowned Floral and Holiday Designer Brad Schmidt in a uniquely Chinatown theme. The Christmas Tree Lighting event is free and open to all ages.
The Shopper’s Pass Program runs from Nov. 22, 2010 through Feb. 28, 2011; the Christmas Tree Lighting event is Thursday, Nov. 2, 2010 beginning at 6 p.m.
